What a liquidation tracker shows

A liquidation tracker records positions that an exchange forcibly closes after margin requirements are breached. These events are useful because they identify forced market activity, which behaves differently from discretionary buying and selling.

Why bursts matter

Clusters of liquidation events can accelerate a move because forced orders add to the same direction of market pressure. A long-liquidation cascade, for example, can add forced selling into an already falling market. The event stream is descriptive: it shows what happened, not where price must go next.

Observed events versus estimated maps

TradingHub labels its feed as observed liquidation activity. Estimated liquidation maps seen elsewhere attempt to project where open positions might be liquidated using assumptions that exchanges do not fully disclose. Keeping these concepts separate reduces false precision.
